IFS (International Food Standard):
the IFS standard is an operative instrument to qualify one’s own suppliers in accordance with requirements of quality, safety and compliance to the regulations about food products.
The IFS standard is the equivalent of BRC for centre-European area Countries (Austria, Swiss, France and Germany).
It was developed by a consortium agreed by the most representative realities of Central Europe, the BDH (Federal Union Of German Trade Association) and FCD (representative body of French retailers). Its purpose is to support large retailers in the selection of branded food products suppliers on the basis of their ability to provide safe products respecting contractual specs and law requirements.
